Tom Hardy Rap Mixtape Listen
Before The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Revenant, you might have known Tom Hardy as Tommy No. 1, the aspiring rapper on tracks like “We Makes the Beats,” “Bring the Fucking Noise,” and “Sit Your Arse Down.” Back in 1999, Tommy No. 1 recorded a handful of mixtapes in his bedroom with Ed Tracy (then, Eddie Too Tall; now, a well-known TV writer). Hardy once told BBC that he started rapping at 14 or 15 and even scored a recording deal before he switched to acting (which he’s also good at). “I’ve recorded loads of stuff but it’s never been released,” he told the BBC.
But that has finally changed, as Tracy has uploaded some of their recordings to Bandcamp. What’s really impressive is that it’s clear why he initially got that record deal. It’s kind of fire. It has some lo-fi, Wu-Tang Clan-influenced production, with samples from jazz and film tracks. The stand-out track “Wiser” even includes a pretty cool sample from The Godfather. To be completely honest, I have no idea what the hell he’s saying, but his rough London flow is pretty damn good.
