Tim Allen Last Man Standing Politics

You might remember, back in 2017 shortly after his very bad show was canceled, Tim “The Principled Conservative Man” Allen went on a lengthy press tour complaining that Last Man Standing was canned at ABC because he is a vocal Republican.

ABC made clear that his show was canceled because it wasn’t very good, but that didn’t stop Allen from claiming “that there is nothing more dangerous, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative character.”

Lucky for him, the very public attack on his former network for censoring his political opinions worked, and his show got picked up for a new season on FOX.

Now that his show has found a new home, Allen is distancing himself from the political leanings of his character, telling FOX that his character is very different from himself.

“When you get into this world—these two guys are not the same guy. You know, Mike Baxter is much more tolerant of other ideas than me on stage. Me, personally—Tim Allen is nobody’s business, and really, who cares what I think,” Allen Told FOX. “Really, in my stand-up it has nothing to do with it. My comedy has been the same since I’ve been doing it for 33 years and it’s about the ultimate political divide—[between] men and women. I’ve been doing that—and that’s all it’s about.”

Well, the problem is, that Allen’s ideas are inherently baked into a show that literally describes itself as being about “a married father of three girls, who tries to maintain his manliness in a world increasingly dominated by women.”

So, if Allen is making a show watched by millions of people that reflect his political ideals, are his opinions nobody’s business? Or are they literally a business that makes lots of money for Fox?
