Watch: TFIOS Live Stream Event w/ Tyler Oakley, Ed Sheeran, John Green, Ansel Elgort

Fans of John Green‘s best-selling novel ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ have been hot with anticipation for the book’s silver screen adaptation, which is just weeks away from theaters. Its trailer has already become the most ‘liked’ movie trailer ever uploaded to YouTube, and as a treat for the YouTube community’s active role in promoting what is sure to become a hugely successful film, a live-streamed event was held at YouTube Space LA to showcase the stars and the music featured in the film.

Hosted by Tyler Oakley, the event featured interviews with author John Green and stars Ansel Elgort, Nat Wolff, and Shailene Woodley. Among other things, the trio shared their thoughts on their roles in the movie, with Woodley commenting that it helper her knock a few things off her bucket list: “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to make out with my brother,” she said, jokingly referring to her last role in the movie Divergent, where she played Ansel’s brother.

The cast also revealed that they bonded both on and off set, with Wolff explaining how spending time with Ansel before filming the movie helped really sell the friendship between their characters Gus and Issac.

The event featured live performances by three of the artists included in ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ soundtrack: Atlantic Records artists Ed Sheeran, Grouplove, and Charli XCX. Sheeran also performed “All Of The Stars” live for the first time. The song was written specifically for the movie, and will serve as an appropriately bittersweet reflection of the film as the end credits roll.

An interesting bromance between Sheeran and Oakley also seems to have emerged from the event, as pictured above.

The entire YouTube community has supported this release en masse, largely because it’s based on a story written by the elder Vlogbrother. John Green and his brother Hank are two of the most active members in the YouTube community, having co-founded the yearly YouTube convention Vidcon, led the annual Project4Awesome charity drive on YouTube, and co-managed their Vlogbrothers YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers.

‘The Fault In Our Stars’ is due to hit theaters on June 6 in the US and June 20 in the UK.
