‘SNL’ Featured Robert Mueller as ‘The Bachelor,’ with the Nation’s Heart on the Line
Saturday Night Live’s cold open reimagined the finale of ABC’s The Bachelor, with Kate McKinnon’s Robert Mueller as the titular singleton on the hunt for love indictments. In the real-life finale, this season’s bachelor broke up with a contestant who’d already accepted his marriage proposal, and then proposed to his former runner-up. SNL recreated the scene, with McKinnon’s Mueller abandoning collusion in favor of the more appealing obstruction.
“So, what? You don’t have Trump on collusion?” asked Strong. “It’s just like, the more time that goes by, the more that I keep thinking about obstruction,” McKinnon admitted.
“So that’s it, he’s just going to be president?” asked a stunned Strong. “I have to wait two more years for him to be out of office?” McKinnon’s horrifying answer was that it’ll “probably” be six years. Thankfully, the sketch ended on an uplifting note, with McKinnon reassuring us all that at least “The Kush is cooked.”
