Seth Rogen Shut Down Paul Ryan’s Selfie Request in Front of Ryan’s Kids

While chatting with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Seth Rogen shared a story that, if it had happened to anyone but Paul Ryan, would be pretty brutal. Apparently, Rogen turned down Ryan’s request for a photo and offered a savage appraisal of his politics—right in front of Ryan’s kids.

Rogen, an outspoken progressive, was attending Mitt Romney’s annual Romney Retreat on behalf of his Alzheimer’s non-profit, when he was approached by two, “very young, white teenaged men.”

“Think about how white they were if I noticed how white they were,” said Rogen.

The kids were Paul Ryan’s sons, and they told Rogen that their dad wanted to meet him. “My whole body puckered,” Rogen said. He shook Ryan’s hand, but completely shut down his request for a photo:

“Can I have a picture with you?” [Ryan asked.] I look over and his kids are standing right there, expectedly, clearly fans of mine, and I go, “No way, man!”… I couldn’t stop, and I said, “Furthermore, I hate what you’re doing to the country at this moment and I count the days until you no longer have one iota of the power you currently have.”

Ryan is retiring from Congress after his term ends in January, so Rogen doesn’t have to count for too much longer.

Rogen admitted to feeling bad about destroying Ryan in front of his kids, but pointed out that the teens “should probably learn that if they like a movie or song, the person who made it probably doesn’t like their dad very much. Unless they’re watching Roseanne reruns, or something like that.”
