PewDiePie Wins Most YouTube Subscriber World Record… Again…

Felix Kjellberg, better known as his gaming alter-ego PewDiePie, just won the official Guinness World Record for the Most subscribers on YouTube… Again.

The Swedish gamer and online personality first won the accolade on August 20, 2013 shortly after his channel surpassed 12 million subscribers. At the time, Kjellberg’s channel was the fastest growing on YouTube by far; adding an average of one new subscriber every 1.3 seconds.

“I never thought I’d be the biggest in the world at something. That’s crazy. And it’s all thanks to you, Bros. So, thank you!,” Kjellberg said in a video thanking his fans.

That record was updated less than a year later, on July 7, 2014 when Kjellberg’s official subscriber count increased to the almost unbelievable figure of 28,292,944.

For the 2016 Guinness World Records book, Kjellberg is featured once again with an official subscriber count of 36 million subscribers, as of April 2015. Just four months later, he is already at a shocking 39 million subscribers and is quickly approaching the milestone of 10 billion total views on YouTube channel.

Other notable stars entering the book for 2016 include rapper/producer/entrepreneur Dr. Dre, who earned the Guinness World Record for the highest earnings ever for a musician. American singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Base” also takes home the record for the first song to reach the UK Top 40 chart on streams alone.

Colombian singer Shakira has officially become the first person to reach 100 million “likes” on a Facebook page, while Netflix original series ‘House Of Cards’ has become both the first major series to première on an online streaming service, and the first web-only series to win an Emmy Award.

A special gaming edition of the 2016 Guinness World Records book will be available on September 10, 2015. With a foreword written by SMOSH GAMES, who won three records earlier this year in the Most Viewed Fan Films category, the book promises to feature facts and figures from the most popular games of the past year – From Minecraft to Grand Theft Auto V. As well as gameplay tips and interviews with some of the biggest names in gaming.

Congratulations Pewds… And Bros…
