New on Netflix July 2018

With the temperatures rising, you’ll be tempted to head outside—hit the beach, hike a mountain, or relax by the pool. But what if your inner indoor kid compels you to stay inside, planted on the couch and caressed by the cool breeze of the air conditioner? Netflix’s might encourage you to do just that, as the streaming service boasts a handful of classic movies, new originals, and a handful of new comedy specials in July.

Here, we give you the top movies hitting the service in July, as well as the full list of titles you’ll want to stream this month.

Universal Pictures

Happy Gilmore (July 1)

One of Adam Sandler’s best movies sees the comedian playing a former hockey player who picks up golf—but his aggressive behavior doesn’t fit well with the more subdued and calm sport.

Warner Bros.

Interview With the Vampire (July 1)

Anne Rice’s horror classic saw a lush and sexy adaptation from director Neil Jordan. A bottle-blond Tom Cruise plays the devious Lestat, while Brad Pitt channels his early ’90s pretty-boy angst as the eternally bummed-out vampire Louis.

Universal Pictures

Jurassic Park (July 1)

Steven Spielberg’s classic adventure hits Netflix just in time for the latest film in the franchise to hit theaters. While its sequels may have become erratic and ludicrous, you can’t beat the original; its special effects are still magnificent 25 years later.

The Weinstein Company

Blue Valentine (July 5)

Starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams (who earned an Oscar nod for her performance), Blue Valentine chronicles the ups and downs of a marriage—which is at times ecstatic and sexy, and at others complicated and destructive.

Netflix

The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter (July 6)

Director Jody Hill and star Danny McBride join forces once again for this Netflix Original, which stars Josh Brolin as legendary hunter Buck Ferguson, who sets out for an epic hunting adventure with his son.

Miramax Films

Gone Baby Gone (July 12)

Ben Affleck made his directorial debut with this thriller, starring his brother Casey as a private investigator searching for clues surrounding a missing young girl in Boston. The film features a stellar supporting cast that includes Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, and Amy Ryan, who earned an Oscar nomination for her role.

Sony Pictures Classics

An Education (July 22)

Carey Mulligan’s breakthrough performance came in this coming-of-age drama set in London during the swinging ’60s. Mulligan plays Jenny, a teenager with sights for academic greatness. But her life is thrown upside-down when she falls for a much older man played by Peter Sarsgaard.
