New Jack White Song – Listen to Jack White’s Corporation
Our buddy Jack White is thinking about starting a corporation, as he tells us about three minutes into his bonkers new rock freak-out. The track is called “Corporation,” and White ruminates on the idea over some squealing guitars, heavy riffs, John Bonham-esque drums, and some fire bongo solos before telling us of his future business plans.
This song has more in common with his other new song “Respect Commander,” which was another crazy instrumental track released alongside the less-than-spectacular “Connected By Love.”
Now, normally—I’d say 90 percent of the time—bongos in a rock song are an absolute deal breaker for me. But in White’s “Corporation,” mostly because everything else is so bonkers, the bongos actually work for me on this one. It’s like they threw a bunch of artists in a room and told them to fuck around until it sounded like a song. It’s weird, it’s loose, and it sounds like White is genuinely having a great time—which is almost never an emotion I associate this particular man with. There’s a false ending. There are digitized screams. There are drum samples. Squad shouts. Really, you name it. This song would be a total mess if it didn’t seem like so much damn fun.
So, the question remains: Are you with him? I think I absolutely am.
