Jared Leto Coronavirus – Jared Leto Learned About the Global Pandemic After a 12-Day Silent Meditation Retreat
Imagine, for a second, you’re an immensely famous and attractive human male. You’re a fashion icon. A rock star. A method actor. A big Silicon Valley tech investor. How do you get away from the stress and burden of your own success? Through an isolated, 12-day silent meditation retreat in the desert, of course.
Now imagine, after 12 days, emerging tranquil, ready to continue conquering the fields of art and technology, only to realize the world has been ravaged by a global pandemic that has hit the United States. Hard.
This is the scenario Jared Leto found himself in yesterday, as he shared on Instagram.
“Wow. 12 days ago I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility,” he wrote in a post on Instagram. “Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever. Mind blowing — to say the least. I’m getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what’s going on. Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all. Stay inside. Stay safe.”
If Leto’s story sounds familiar, that’s because something very similar to this happened in an episode of Black Mirror. The Season Five episode “Smithereens” deals with a crisis at a social media company where a young man has taken one of the employees hostage. When the situation gets out of hand, execs at the social media company are forced to bother their CEO and genius founder—played by a very Jared Leto-looking Topher Grace—who was not to be bothered in the middle of his own isolated silent retreat.
It’s all just more proof that we’re living in a simulation created by the Black Mirror writers.
But perhaps the absolute irony is that we should all follow Leto’s lead and go into a 12-day (maybe more!) isolated retreat. Like right now.
