Emilia Clarke Sex on Game of Thrones
Emilia Clarke’s career has been defined by a TV show that’s often only generalized as being about dragons and sex. To be fair, Game of Thrones has a lot of both of those things, but also so much more than that: There’s zombies, eunuchs, assassins that wear dead people’s faces, fantasy politics, and children who can see the past. With the end of the show in sight, Clarke is moving on to the next phase of her career, which includes a huge role in the new Star Wars stand-alone film Solo and the true-crime thriller Above Suspicion.
And while she’s been forced to address sex and nudity often, it seems like she’s fed up talking about it. In her cover story for Harper’s Bazaar, Clarke gets real about the topic, venting to the magazine:
“I’m starting to get really annoyed about this stuff now because people say, ‘Oh, yeah, all the porn sites went down when Game of Thrones came back on.’ I’m like, The Handmaid’s Tale? I fucking love that show, and I cried when it ended because I couldn’t handle not seeing it. That is all sex and nudity. There are so many shows centered around this very true fact that people reproduce,” she adds. “People fuck for pleasure—it’s part of life.”
She’s right! Humans’ basic functions include eating, sleeping, drinking, and fucking. You’d think we’d get that after about 200,000 years.
