Did Michael Myers Die In Halloween 2018 Movie Ending And Will There Be a Sequel?

After 10 movies, we should know how this is gonna go. It looks like they kill Michael Myers, but Michael Myers somehow survives and comes back to kill again. But, the latest reboot of the Halloween movies effectively erases the existence of anything except for the original 1978 film. Myers has been in prison for 40 years, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is not his sister, and has been fortifying her house to fend off his possible return.

Here’s where I remind you that you’ve clicked on an article about the ending of the 2018 Halloween and it will therefore include information about the ending of the 2018 Halloween.

So anyway, as you probably expected would happen, Myers kills a bunch of people, but in the end Laurie, her daughter, and granddaughter trap him in the basement of her fortified house and blow it up.

They run outside and hitch a ride back to town for, presumably, a happily ever after. But, when it cuts back to the house, we see the burning basement but don’t ever see a clear shot of Myers actually dying. As you’ll recall, Myers has been burned alive before (in Halloween II), but that didn’t work, and also never happened, according to this new timeline.

Unless we see Myers cut into little pieces, it’s always safe to assume he’s not dead. And even then, there’s probably some witch that would resurrect him or something.

So, is he really dead? Anyone who stayed for the credits afterward also got a little bit of an answer to this question. There’s no post-credit scene, but we do hear audio of Myers breathing. If you remember, in the original film, after Myers is shot, falls off the roof, and disappears, we hear him breathing.

And considering this entire movie was filled with clever nods to the original, it’s only natural that the ending would be a hint toward Myers’ survival.

More importantly, Halloween is projected to have a pretty damn good opening weekend, and if money is any indication (it always is!), it’s likely there will be a sequel on the way. Long before Halloween’s release, rumors were confident that Blumhouse is already making motions to start production on a sequel that could be out as soon as next year.
