Coachella 2019 Lineup – Coachella’s 2019 Lineup Hints at an Excellent Year for Music

On Tuesday night, Coachella announced its 2019 lineup, which includes headliners Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande. Other top billed acts include Janelle Monae, Solange, The 1975, Aphex Twin, and J Balvin. The annual music festival will take place over two weekends: April 12–14 and April 19–21.

While that, on its own, is an excellent list of top tier acts, the Coachella lineup is typically a good example of what the festival season will look like and who promoters are eyeing to have a big year. That means we’re likely to expect new albums from most of these main acts. Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Grande, Solange, and The 1975 have all teased upcoming albums in 2019, though nothing has officially been announced. And, to see them on the top of the Coachella poster means we can almost certainly expect they are headlining in support of a new release.

Moving down the lineup, there are a number of welcome names including Anderson .Paak, Kacey Musgraves, Juice WRLD, Christine and the Queens, Sheck Wes, Pusha T, and more who had excellent 2018s.

Though he’d been rumored to be a headliner in 2019, Kanye West does not appear on the final lineup after reports that he pulled out of Coachella at the last minute. As TMZ reported: “Kanye made it clear he wouldn’t perform on a traditional 60×40 foot stage because it was ‘artistically limiting.’ Goldenvoice, which produces the festival, would not allow the stage to be altered or removed for Ye’s performance. In the end, we’re told Kanye passed.”

This allegedly sent the festival producers scrambling to find a last minute replacement.

Regardless of what really happened, the trio of headliners looks pretty great sans Kanye West.
