Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro Stopped by ‘SNL’ as Michael Cohen and Robert Mueller

Last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live opened with a Meet the Parents homage, via cameos by stars Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller as Robert Mueller and Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.

The cold open begins with Jeff Sessions (Kate McKinnon) and Mike Pence (Beck Bennett) discussing the raid on Cohen’s office. “We’re in a real pickle here, Jeff,” says Bennett. “And you know how uncomfortable I feel around pickles.”

Stiller enters as the embattled Michael Cohen, “attorney at law, and also sometimes not at law,” declaring that the raid on his office was a “violation of attorney-criminal privilege.”

“Do you know how much evidence I have in my office?” Stiller asks. “I’m Donald Trump’s lawyer—I’ve got a whole hard drive that’s just labeled ‘yikes.'”

Stiller then meets with De Niro-as-Mueller, who subjects him to a lie detector test in a callback to their famous Meet the Parents scene. When asked if he threatened people to keep their stories about Trump silent, Stiller insists he’s never “directly” done so. “But let’s just say I’ve just cut a lot of letters from a lot of magazines.”
