Asian Kids Say “I Love You” To Their Parents For The First Time

You’d never think a video featuring such a simple concept could have such a major impact on you, yet here I am feeling all the feels.

Theodore Roosevelt once said, “No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” I know when I was in college I rarely said “I love you” to my parents, and it seems YouTuber Steven Lim noticed the same issue among his peers and set out to highlight it in this incredible video.

It features students from a variety of Asian backgrounds telling their parents they love them. In one case, a young women tells her father she loves him for the first time… ever!

Perhaps affection is shown differently in the respective cultures of the people profiled in this video, or even in their families. But if there’s one lesson to take away from this video, it’s the sage advice shared by one of the moms in the video: “Say I love you more.”
