YouTube royalty Joe & Sarah Penna have announced they are expecting their first child.
Sarah made the announcement to all of her friends and followers on Twitter and Instagram, saying: “Joe and I have some big news to share with you all :),” along with the hashtag #MysteryGuitarBaby.
Friends and fans have offered baby name suggestions, but Sarah was quick to tell them that Laina (better known as Overly Attached Girlfriend) has called the right to name the baby. (Yes, we’re suspicious too… Should we send help..?)
Baby Penna is due in August, 2014.
Sarah Penna (née Evershed), 29, is one of the most prominent businesswomen in new media. She has managed internet talent for years, she’s one of the founders of YouTube network Big Frame, and she is credited with playing a key role in the success of many of the most popular YouTubers around today, including Philip DeFranco (sxephil). Sarah managed a number of DeFranco’s early projects and led his old ‘Like Totally Awesome’ (LTA) channel. According to RRW, Sarah was also the person that cast Toby Turner (Tobuscus) to star on the channel. She provided him with a major platform, which he used to become a major YouTube celebrity in his own right.
Joe Penna, 26, is better known as MysteryGuitarMan. His unique stop motion music videos captured the imagination of millions of viewers in the early days of YouTube, and he has since gone on to become one of the most respected and well-known YouTubers around.
The pair wed in 2011, and their wedding video is online for friends and fans to see.
While it’s clear their love is very real, Sarah also understands the incredible advantage she has in her ‘strategically convenient’ marriage. Speaking to RRW, she said: “Being married to Joe and being part of the YouTube community allows me to really understand where the talent is coming from in everything they do. Since I am in the trenches with my talent, I am able to have a view into what’s going on in the community and I can act rather than react.” Genius.
A huge congratulations to the couple – We wish you all the best.
