Connor Franta has announced the release date of his first book.

The YouTube vlogger is one of many insanely popular YouTubers that were given the opportunity to write (or put their name on…) a book.

The move was orchestrated by Simon & Schuster Publishing, and is intended to give audiences an opportunity to have an in-depth look at the lives of their favorite YouTubers, and learn much more about them than they ever could from a short 5-minute video.

Franta is planning to fully embrace that concept with the release of his first book, which will be a memoir containing a collection of stories and lessons from Franta’s life.

Titled “A Work In Progress,” the book is due to be released on April 21, 2015.

The YouTube star teased fans with promises of a big announcement before revealing the news:

You would think a 22-year-old YouTuber wouldn’t have much to say in a memoir. However, according to the publisher, the book will offer a detailed account of Franta’s “midwestern upbringing as one of four children in the home and one of five in the classroom,” a summary of the book read; as well as “his struggles with identity, body image, and sexuality in his teen years; and his decision to finally pursue his creative and artistic passions in his early twenties, setting up his thrilling career as a YouTube personality, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and taste-maker.”

Simon & Schuster have invested heavily in Franta and the other YouTube stars they’re bringing on board. Some YouTubers have been offered six-figure advances from Keywords Press, an imprint the publisher set up specifically to serve these YouTubers and these audiences. And if make up guru Michelle Phan’s New Book, which topped the New York Times Bestseller’s list shortly after release, is anything to go by, both the publishers and the authors will make a lot of money selling paper and ink to a new generation of digital natives.

Other YouTubers that are due to release books on Keywords Press this year include: Joey Graceffa, Justine Ezarik (iJustine), Shay Butler (ShayCarl), and Mamrie Hart.

Update:

Despite having been announced just two hours ago, and being available for pre-order only, Franta’s “A Work In Progress” has topped both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble’s best-seller lists.
